This SYNCHRO-NET Deliverable D1.6 presents the first review of regulations, policies and standards applicable to international multi-modal containerised and large freight movements to provide the regulatory and standards input for other SYNCHRO-NET work packages and tasks.
Through an analysis of a broad array of relevant documents and project accomplishments, the review represents a clear and structured picture on key policies, regulations, international standards, programs, industry organizational inputs, and general research on synchromodality, slow/smart steaming and related themes. The analysis determines the starting point for the SYNCHRO-NET project, and it helps the SYNCHRO-NET consortium to plan, coordinate and carry out future work, without (unintentionally) conflicting with the existing legacy of key information, and without (unnecessarily) duplicating previous work done.
The reviewed documents provide an overview of the legal framework around maritime shipping, intermodal shipping, single window, railroad operations, and customs for the European Union – among some other key topics within the SYNCHRO-NET scope.
